British ska band Madness is coming to the Netherlands. On December 12th, the band celebrates its 40th anniversary in the AFAS Live with a special, exclusive XL show. This means the biggest show ever on Dutch soil by the popular group that inspired countless ska bands and scored evergreen hits like “One Step Beyond”, “Baggy Trousers” and “Our House”. This is only XL show on European soil.
Madness is one of the most successful bands in the world. The group from London is known for the infectious and unique mix of ska, reggae, pop, punk and a good dose of humor. The band from Camden Town is founded in 1979 and breaks through that same year with debut album One Step Beyond, with the unforgettable hits “Night Boat To Cairo”, “My Girl” and “One Step Beyond”. In the following years, Madness scores hit after hit and spent no less than 214 weeks in the charts. Tracks like “Our House”, “Baggy Trousers” and “Embarassment” grow into classics and can still be heard everywhere today. Comeback albums The Liberty Of Norton Folgate (2009), Oui Oui Si Si Yes Yes Da Da (2012) and their most recent album Can’t Touch Us Now (2016) are also well received, the latter landing in the British top 10.
