Stray Cats

Stray Cats back for a reunion concert at AFAS Live

After ten years, members of the American rockabilly band Stray Cats are coming back together. Guitarist-singer Brian Setzer, bassist Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom are off to AFAS Live in Amsterdam for a show on July 1st.

The band, led by rock ‘n roll icon Brian Setzer, was founded in 1979. Their music was strongly influenced by rockabilly from the 1950s combined with punk music from their own time. The Stray Cats caused a worldwide rockabilly revival and achieved huge successes in Europe with hits such as Runaway Boys, Stray Cat Strut, and Rock This Town. In addition to the Stray Cats, band leader Brian Setzer has built up a successful solo career with, among others, his Brian Setzer Orchestra, a rockabilly big band with which he won several Grammy Awards.

Ten years ago, the band said goodbye to the public and, as part of that farewell, gave a concert in a rapidly sold out Heineken Music Hall (now Afas Live). After ten years of working on their solo careers, the band members come together to celebrate their 40-year anniversary with a new album and a world tour. On July 1st the Stray Cats make their appearance in the Amsterdam AFAS Live.
